Our faculty member, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aybiçe Tosun Süvüt, has been conducting extensive research at the Faculty of Education at the University of Helsinki under the TÜBİTAK Postdoctoral Research Scholarship program from August 2023 to August 2024. Finland is recognized as one of the most successful countries in the field of education globally and stands out for its multicultural education practices. In this context, Aybiçe Tosun Süvüt’s research project aims to examine the existing multicultural educational environments in Finnish public schools and to conduct in-depth interviews with teachers of religious and secular ethics courses about educational methods, techniques, and practices suitable for cultural diversity.
During the research process, she visited the Finnish National Education Agency to gather information on current educational policies, made observations in schools to study teaching and learning environments, and conducted detailed research in teacher training institutions. In this scope, she interacted with students and teachers in various schools to gather data on the implementation of multicultural education. Additionally, as part of her research process, she delivered seminars on educational practices in Turkey in classes at both high school and university levels.
